Arrow Motors began as Arrow Tire. the name changed, the tire business did not, and tires are still a large part of what happens here every week.

we sell and fit tires for all makes and models, whether or not you bought the vehicle from us.

choosing between all season, all weather and winter

the three-way choice confuses people, and the middle option is the one most have not heard of.

all season tires stiffen below about seven degrees and lose grip, on dry roads as well as snow. the M+S marking on them has no performance test behind it.

all weather tires carry the three peak mountain snowflake, which does have a test behind it, and they are legal as winter tires while staying on the car all year. for most drivers who do not want to swap twice a year, this is the right answer.

winter tires are still the best thing on ice and packed snow by a distance, and worth it if you drive rural roads through an Ontario winter.

on price

tires are the only part of your vehicle touching the road, and the gap between a good tire and a budget one in wet braking is measured in car lengths.

that said, a budget tire is a perfectly reasonable choice on a vehicle you are selling in six months, or on a trailer. what we object to is a cheap tire fitted to a family car because nobody explained the difference.

ask us for the cost per kilometre rather than the price on the wall. a set at $900 lasting 100,000 kilometres is cheaper than one at $600 lasting 60,000, and it stops better the entire time.
